If your kitchen is looking dull or tired, or you simply feel it needs bringing up to date, then this is the blog you need to read…

How great would it be if you could just rip out your current kitchen and replace it with the brand new one of your dreams? Well for most of us, that just isn’t a reality! There are however a number of things you can do to give your kitchen the facelift it may need without breaking the bank!

Here are some ideas that may just buy you a few more years…😉

1. PLANTS

You can’t go wrong with plants! If you love plants like we do, then adding a touch of greenery to your kitchen can brighten up the space, and may even make you feel happier! Plants look great on benchtops, islands, open shelves, and on top of cabinetry (if you have overheads that don’t go to the ceiling).

2. Artwork

Add some colour and personality with a piece of art you love! Whether it is a piece of art you already own, or why not treat yourself to a new piece by one of your fave artists?

3. KITCHEN TAP

The sink is probably the most used part of your kitchen, so changing out your old tap to a beautiful new one can be an easy way to create a sleeker look. With a multitude of styles and metals there is a tap for everyone!

4. HANDLES

We personally think of handles as the jewels of the kitchen, and nowadays there are so many beautiful options. Most handles come in a range of different finishes and sizes, which makes changing out your old ones to something more contemporary, an easy way to add some glamour.

5. PAINT

Paint is one of the best ways to freshen up your walls and brighten up a dull space, but why stop there? Why not paint your cabinetry fronts too? Provided the cabinets are in good condition, painting the doors can be one of the best ways to transform a kitchen into a sleek and modern space. If painting your cabinet fronts isn’t an option you could also look at replacing the fronts too, however this would obviously be a more costly option.

6. LIGHTING

The downfall of a lot of kitchens is the lighting. Replacing your lights can make all difference! If you have an island or peninsula, some stylish pendant lights above will definitely add ambience. Adding LED strip lighting under your overhead cabinets will also breathe life to your splashback, and provide good task lighting!

7. De-clutter and open up the space

If your kitchen looks or feels cluttered, sometimes the best way to resolve this is to remove some of the overhead cabinets, and replace them with open shelving. This can be a great way to open up the space and display your favourite dishes, cookbooks, plants, jugs, platters etc, all of which will add a personal touch.

8. SPLASHBACK

Simply changing your splashback alone can completely transform your kitchen. Choosing a beautiful tile that compliments your cabinetry and benchtop can be a great way to add personality, and modernise the space. We love these Artisan White Gloss tiles by Equipe for a timeless, neutral look.

9. FLOORING

If your floor is letting the team down, why not look at replacing it with a laminate or even vinyl? Both are very affordable options and easy to install. You will be amazed at the difference a new floor can make!

10. BENCHTOPS

Although this is probably the most expensive option, changing your benchtop can be the ultimate game changer in achieving an entirely new look. A new work surface can transform your whole kitchen into the contemporary space you have been dreaming about.
