Newton & Kay is a collaborative interior design studio based in the Bay of Islands, Northland. Driven by a passion for soulful design, our ethos is to create beautiful spaces that are both timeless and functional. Grounded in both art and architecture, our bespoke approach to design is a refined, yet warm expression of the built environment using light, form, colour and texture.
MEET THE TEAM
Lara Kay
Designer, Co-founder
Lara’s creative career began in architectural photography in the UK, giving her the opportunity to travel around the country exploring beautiful architecture and interior design. She later moved to New Zealand where she turned her passion for design into a reality, undertaking a full renovation project, as well as a self build. Lara then took time out to start a family, but soon returned to the creative field as a freelance kitchen designer. It was in this role she realised there was an opportunity to expand and create a Northland based interior design company. This is where Newton & Kay was born, a collaborative interior design studio, co-founded with Miranda Newton.
Miranda Newton
Designer, Co-founder
With a past steeped in creativity, including working as a visual merchandiser, gaining a diploma in art fundamentals and a year studying illustration, Miranda has always had an affinity for creating beautiful scenes. Her interest in interior design was a natural progression and was truly ignited during her first house build, a family home in the Bay of Islands. She has since been studying a diploma course in the field and when the opportunity arose to start a business with a like minded designer, Newton and Kay came to fruition. Miranda enjoys the whole design process, from meeting the client, collaboratively developing a vision and facilitating its evolution and execution.
